MP Dominic Ayine Urges Constituents to Avoid ‘Skirt and Blouse’ Voting”

Dr. Dominic Akuritenga Ayine, the incumbent Member of Parliament for the Bolgatanga East Constituency, has advised his constituents to refrain from practicing “skirt and blouse” voting in the upcoming elections. He emphasized that such a voting pattern could be detrimental to the party’s prospects in the area. Dr. Ayine, who secured 292 votes out of 416 to retain his position as the Parliamentary candidate, stressed the importance of winning with a greater margin.

His main contender, Dr. Emmanuel Abeireinya, received 121 votes, while former President John Mahama secured 412 votes, and Kojo Bonsu received three votes. Dr. Ayine expressed gratitude to all the delegates, his contender Dr. Abeireinya, and their respective supporters. He reiterated the need for a respectful and issue-based campaign, devoid of insults and inflammatory language.

Dr. Ayine extended his appreciation to the constituency executives for their constitutional mandate in organizing the election, highlighting that the success of the NDC in the upcoming 2024 elections depends on the unity and effectiveness of the party at the grassroots level. He also acknowledged the crucial role of polling stations in ensuring a successful electoral process.

Furthermore, Dr. Ayine expressed gratitude to the Electoral Commission, the District Commander of Police, and their respective teams for their efforts in maintaining security and facilitating a peaceful election. He also extended his appreciation to the media for their coverage.

Dr. Emmanuel Abeireinya, in a statement, thanked the delegates and his supporters, pledging his support to the winner of the parliamentary primary.

All in all, Dr. Ayine’s call to avoid “skirt and blouse” voting reflects his commitment to party unity and emphasizes the importance of securing a decisive victory in the upcoming elections.
